Beginning Meniett Therapy

Meniett® therapy is a safe, simple, and effective treatment for Ménière’s disease symptoms of dizziness and vertigo. Once you and your doctor decide that Meniett therapy is right for your Ménière’s disease, these are the steps you’ll follow to begin.

Before You Begin Meniett Therapy

A tiny vent tube allows the Meniett’s pressure pulses to reach the middle ear and influence the fluid of the inner ear.

A tiny vent tube allows the Meniett’s pressure pulses to reach the middle ear and influence the fluid of the inner ear.

Your doctor will write a prescription for Meniett therapy so you can order your device. You’ll also have a ventilation tube (vent tube) inserted in the eardrum of the affected ear. The procedure is called a myringotomy. It’s usually an outpatient procedure, meaning you won’t have to check into the hospital. It takes about 10 to 20 minutes to perform.

Typical Treatment Schedule

The Meniett device is easy to use. Once your doctor shows you how it works, you’ll perform your Meniett treatments yourself.

Doctors usually prescribe 3 treatments a day. Each treatment takes about 5 minutes, and the device will let you know when the treatment is finished. A small carrying case makes it easy to take with you.

After You Begin Meniett Therapy

Follow your prescribed treatment schedule every day for at least 5 to 6 weeks. Based on existing patient experience, you should know within this timeframe if Meniett therapy is going to help you. Your vertigo attacks should become less frequent or less intense. It's very important that you do not skip any treatments. Otherwise, Meniett therapy may be less effective.
