Benefits and Risks – Meniett Therapy

Benefits

Meniett® therapy helps many Ménière’s disease patients return to a normal, productive life by reducing or getting rid of their dizziness or vertigo symptoms.

The Meniett device is small, portable, and easy to use. It allows you to give yourself treatments at home or work in just a few minutes each day. Meniett therapy is easy to add to your daily routine.

The American Academy of Otolaryngology recommends micropressure therapy (such as the Meniett device) as a treatment option for certain cases of Ménière’s disease, especially when medical treatment hasn’t worked.1

A tiny vent tube allows the Meniett’s pressure pulses to reach the middle ear and influence the fluid of the inner ear.

Risks

Most patients use Meniett therapy with no negative side effects. The Meniett device has a safety valve that limits the amount of pressure delivered to your ear.

For Meniett therapy to be effective, a small ventilation tube (vent tube) must be placed into the eardrum by an ENT or ear specialist. This is a commonly performed surgical procedure. There’s always a small risk of eardrum infection where the tube is inserted. Your doctor can tell you more about this risk and answer any questions you may have.
